The West Australian is reporting again on the housing shortage. The article is this time mainly focusing on the "problem" of rising population. But it also calls for responsible action from the government:

The Rudd Government is reviewing the tax system.

We believe it would be fairer if workers and businesses paid less tax from their wages and profits whilst land owners paid more from the profit on their landholdings.

We have ‘record low’ inflation yet land and property values aren’t even taken into account when calculating inflation!

Our wages rise by just a few dollars whilst property prices jumped $766 per day in Melbourne’s December 09 quarter.

Now is the time to send a clear message to the Rudd Labor Government that the balance needs to change.
